Despite the number of *years* Dante has spent thinking about breasts not even a minute was given to practical thoughts

Recap: Bastion and company return to take over protecting their home town from demons after 500 years. They arrive to find the gates unguarded and the demons making their nightly rush to get inside the city of Pilk.

Once the demons are (too easily) driven off, the cagey Mayor seems more concerned about protecting his casino than the city. Bastion's most immediate concern is whether the money he's been paying for the upkeep of his Protector's Academy for the past 200 years has actually protected it.

Their quest for their old home leads them across a city that has changed more than a bit over the centuries. At the end they find the academy has fallen to ruin and holds more demons settled inside the walls than a city like this should have.

The major players:

Bastion: Leader of one of the world's renowned protection companies. He and his brother Dante have been keeping demons from entering cities for 500 years. The return home is feeling more and more like a good way to close up this overly long chapter of his life. Or perhaps close up the whole book itself?

Dante: Any job that allows him to bed women for 500 years is okay in Dante's book! Though he suspects Bastion doesn't find that enough and is worried that homecoming means something other than a new beginning for his older brother.

Majeau: Strong, direct but much may be hidden beyond her silent wall. She grew up in Pilk Haven 200 years ago and attended Bastion's Academy (which continued running after Bastion and Dante left.) The academy closed shortly after she left Pilk.

Callo: Young, enthusiastic about life, but why is he with one of the premier protection companies? He seems to need more protecting himself than what he provides. And he seems to have a special attachment to Majeau.

The minor players:

Mayor Red Fortune: The mayor of Pilk and owner of the largest casino in Pilk, which of course would not cause any conflict of interests! He's always accompanied by his 3 (little) assistants (who make him feel even bigger than his personality.)
